What can be the result of prolonged GERD problems?

My husband has been having GERD problems for a long time but he has only been prolonging treatment. What could be the repercussions?

Complications of GERD include esophageal ulcerations, strictures, Barretts mucosa and cancer. It would be wise to do an EGD to make sure he is not at risk for any of these problems.
Ulcers, Barrett’s esophagus, esophagitis, gastritis. If he has had the problem for a long time he should see a GI specialist.
Untreated GERD can have serious complications like ulcers, strictures and even cancers.
