Ear-Nose and Throat Doctor (Pediatric) Questions Strep Throat

What does strep throat look like in a child's throat?

My son has been complaining about a sore throat for the past couple of days. I thought it was from allergies, but it's persistent, and now he's saying that it hurts even worse. Especially when he swallows. I took a look at his throat and it does look a little abnormal, so we have an appointment in the afternoon after he gets back from school. However, what does strep throat usually look like?

Usually, it looks reddish with white spots or debris, and there are often swollen lymph nodes that are tender, located in the front of the neck. But it can appear very close to normal which is why a culture is so important If you suspect strep throat.
