Types of catheters used in interventional radiology?

I understand that a lot of interventional radiology procedures use catheters to help them. Are there different types of catheters used? And are they painful?

There are different types and sizes depending on the procedure. Most are usually through a tiny nick in the skin made AFTER numbing medicine given. Many procedures also done with some sedation without general anesthesia
There many different types of catheters used. They are selected for varying characteristics such as size, shape, material, stiffness... None are particularly painful. It all depends on what the catheter is being used for. Typically the most painful part of any IR procedure is the administration of numbing medication directly into the skin.
