Dermatologist Questions goosebumps

Why do I get goosebumps often?

I have read somewhere that goosebumps occur as a result of static. However, I often end up getting goosebumps all of a sudden. Are there other reasons for goosebumps to occur?

These bumps on a person's skin are truly located at the base of the hair. They may involuntarily develop when you are cold or experience strong emotions such as euphoria, sexual height, or fear. Basically, the hair stands up when cold or stimulated, thus producing a layer of warmth. The muscles around the hair follicles contract. This is a reflex, therefore not controllable.
Goosebumps is a response from the autonomous nerve system in response to different stimulus. Basically, a reflex that you have no control over.
