Dentist Questions tooth pain

Will asprin help my tooth pain?

I have a tooth ache in one of my molars and it really bothers me throughout the day. I avoid chewing on that side right now, until I go to my dentist to have it looked at. Can I take asprin to ease my pain?

Not a good idea. You would be masking a possible infection.
Sometimes
It can help, but we do not recommend it because it can cause a chemical burn on your gum, cheek, and other soft tissues.
Ibuprofen is better.
Something is causing the tooth pain. Nature is causing the pain because it is telling you that something is seriously wrong. Aspirin will help mask the symptoms but do nothing for the cause. The longer you wait to see a dentist, the greater chance that the problem becomes worse and more expensive to treat. Good luck. My advice is to see a dentist immediately.
Aspirin is an analgesic that is effective systemically that is to say generally for the whole body as it is ingested and not laid on top of the tooth to dissolve therefore causing a burn to delicate tissues of the mouth. Take aspirin only as prescribed or instructed on the bottle. You taking aspirin the correct way if this does not alleviate the pain then your dentist should be consulted and an x-ray taken as well as a clinical examination to determine the level of disrepair.
Yes. Aspirin (acetysalicylic acid) is still a very good non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain reliever. It can be taken in combination with acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed on their respective containers to achieve even greater pain control. Together they are better than opioid (codeine type) pain relievers. As with any medications, you may be taking other medications that aspirin can not be taken with, or have conditions where aspirin is not recommended, so check with your doctor and or pharmacist before taking any medications.

Sure, aspirin is the original NSAID. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Also, you can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen, brand names Motrin or Advil and Tylenol.
Good day,

I don't recommend aspirin for toothaches; it thins your blood. If it ended up having to be pulled, it will cause lots of bleeding. You can take some Panado with Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) and make an appointment to see your dentist as soon as possible.

Yes
Take whatever pain reliever you take for a headache: aspirin, tylenol, advil or alieve. See your dentist ASAP. Pain is relieved by these medications, but will return unless the cause for the pain is treated.
Yes, unless you are allergic to salicylate, one of it's component. Aspirin is mainly an anti-inflammatory agent and blood thinner, which can be a disadvantage if you need a tooth extraction. I prefer to recommend Advil or Tylenol for pain. The best is to see your dentist as soon as possible.
Yes, aspirin is fine to take to ease the pain temporarily. Advil and Tylenol are also good alternatives.
