Will my teeth fall out from receding gums?

I am a 40 year old female and I have receding gums. Will my teeth fall out from receding gums?

No
Most likely no, unless you also have severe bone loss and uncontrolled periodontal disease.
Change your brushing habits, use a WATER PIK, and have regular cleanings and exams. Probably then you will be fine!
Hello,

Yes and no. Teeth can and do fall out from periodontal disease which does have receding gums associated with it. However, teeth do not usually fall out from receding gums caused by a tooth brush. It is important to know why your gums are receding though.

My best to you!

Your teeth will not fall out just because you have receding gums. However, what causes teeth to become loose or fall out, is advanced periodontitis which is basically gum disease that can be treated in early to moderate stages.
Teeth do not fall out with receding gums. If you have periodontal disease associated with the recession and there is bone loss, you may lose your teeth.

Good morning,

Yes, your teeth may fall out if your pockets in your gums are deep and full of bacteria. Bacteria leads to bone loss and, bone loss leads to tooth loss.

Recession is normal as we age. If you visit your dentist twice a year and have good oral hygiene, you should not lose your teeth.
Visit your American Dental Association dentist for an exam and diagnosis for why your gums are receding.

The gums take their shape from the underlying bone. If your gums are receding due to bone loss, then you may lose your teeth. Better get checked by a dentist or gum specialist.
