  • How can you relieve the pain from a pinched nerve?

Chiropractors relieve the pain from a pinched nerve by examining which structure is affecting the nerve and adjusting or manipulating that structure to remove the pressure on that particular nerve. If it is from the spine then the nerve root will be effected and the chiropractor adjusts the vertebrae which is involved. If it is the shoulder or adjoining structures then the shoulder can be manipulated as well. Chiropractic is a safe, effective, and natural approach to removing pinched nerves in all parts of the body. READ MORE

  • What can be done for my sciatica?

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body exiting between several lumbar vertebrae and the sacrum traveling down the leg all the way to the foot. When it becomes inflamed due to compression from the disc, the pain can be excruciating and make it difficult to walk. The chiropractic treatment is to remove the pressure from the nerve root and decrease any inflammation and disc swelling. Depending on many factors such as your age, overall health, how long you’ve had the condition, etc., will determine how long it will take to get better. Some patients get well quickly and the sciatica never comes back. It all depends on what you do to heal yourself and how frequently you go for treatments. Talk to your chiropractor about any concerns you may have. Do core strengthening exercises to assist in your progress. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. READ MORE

  • I have pain in my back everytime I put on weight. Why does this happen?

The answer to your question may lie in how exactly are you putting on the weight. Are you gaining weight due to poor diet and not enough exercise? If you are eating refined sugar and fatty foods then your muscles will not be getting the proper protein to keep them contracting and growing like they need. First off the disc doesn’t actually slip. The space between the vertebrae is composed of a tough annulus fibrosis with a more fluid gelatinous nucleus pulposus. If you injure your back and the nucleus material bulges into the spinal canal it can inflame the surrounding tissue and irritate the spinal nerves causing pain and stiffness. Depending on the severity of the bulge mild exercise can be very beneficial and in some cases relieve the nerve pressure. So, whatever you can tolerate in terms of pain a conservative exercise regime will be more effective than simply bedrest. READ MORE
