Did you know that diet can either have a positive or negative effect on cognitive ability & behavior in children and adolescents? It is a balance between the nutrition found in the foods eaten daily that can exert immediate or long-term, beneficial or adverse effects. For example, thiamine which is abundantly found in these foods, whole grains, fresh fruit, vegetables, beans & fish reverses aggressiveness in thiamine-deficient adolescents.

These foods are also rich in all the necessary vitamins that are essential for optimal health & development. Here I am not talking about supplements or the taking of vitamins, as these will not provide the adequate nutrition or balance that a child or adult for that matter needs for a healthy brain and physical function. Eliminate fast, processed, packaged sugar-laden foods and drinks from your child’s diet. Over time you will notice a significant difference in their ability to learn and their behavior.
