Are you born with scoliosis or do you develop it?

I am a 20 year old male. I want to know if you are born with scoliosis or do you develop it?

Some people are born with a spine that is more likely to develop into scoliosis. Most cases the person acquires scoliosis due to some trauma and resulting changes.
Good question. Both are possible! I would recommend you be evaluated by a chiropractor who takes X-rays in office for an oppinion regarding your spine.
There are cases of congenital scoliosis in the public. More than likely is
due to postural anomalies developed from repetitive motions.
Both. Some are hereditary (non-functional) but most develop due to musculoskeletal imbalance (functional) which can be corrected with chiropractic treatment if detected in the early stage.

Scoliosis develops over time and usually manifest in adolescence. Hyper flexible individuals are more prone to developing scoliosis.
Great question! There are 3 types of scoliosis: congenital where a vertebral or more is malformed during embryonic development which can cause abnormal curvature. This is seen at a younger age compared to idiopathic scoliosis which is diagnosed when all other causes are excluded. Idiopathic is a fancy way of saying, unsure of the cause, and is usually diagnosed during puberty. Lastly, neuromuscular scoliosis, includes scoliosis associated with cerebral palsy, spinal cord trauma, muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and spina bifida. This type occurs more rapidly than the other two and results in surgical treatment
When we look at scoliosis we see attends to run in families. We generally believe it develops in the womb and this is referred to as congenital scoliosis... You can develop curvature of your spine later in life but there is a good chance that this is muscle skeletal type issue as opposed to any type of genetic deformity.
Yes, you can be born with scoliosis. Woman tend to suffer from scoliosis more then men
