I have a back hernia. Can surgery fix a back hernia?

A back hernia - usually refers to a herniated vertebral disc. The spine is a stack of bones one on top of the other; between the stacks are small rubbery discs If the disc tears - center slips out: this is the herniated disc. This can push on associated nerves causing pain, numbness or weakness.
Can surgery fix this: Yes, but it is rarely necessary.
Please check with your surgeon to clearly identify the hernia. In general almost all Hernias can be surgically fixed.
I assume you are not talking about a herniated disc. There are 2 types of hernias that can happen in the back, and both are categorized as "rare" hernias. As a result of that, not any general surgeon could effectively fix them, especially with the least amount of trauma to the patient. So the answer to your question is yes, they can be fixed, but you should look for a surgeon that did this before, as most of the surgeons never saw one of these in their entire career. I have repaired several of these, and I am able, most of the time, to do them with minimally invasive techniques. Call my office for an appointment.
Nerve damage may be irreparable, but yes. Consult Obesity Medicine, if BMI > 27 and consult Functional Medicine/Integrativce medicine to optimize internal wound healing and gut microbiome.
