Covid screening question at clinic?

How do I find out if I have been around anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus or is awaiting results of a test? Each time I arrive at the clinic or physical therapy for an appointment I am asked that question but I don't know how to answer it.

You must answer yes after a close contact, e.g., > 15 minutes in a 6-foot distance without a real mask. If the answer is yes to that guideline, you must self quarantine until you test negative on a valid virus test/incubation time is 2-14 days. You must answer totally honestly! At age > 60, you are in a higher risk for bad outcome, especially if you are obese, have hypertension, are diabetic, or are non-white.
Take care.

You can only answer what you know. These questions are asked because some persons do know that they have a family member or close work associate who has been infected. You do not, so you answer no. Obviously, anyone who works and comes in contact with the public - think post office employees, bus drivers, supermarket check out attendants - come in contact with lots of persons about whom they know nothing. That is why social distancing and hand washing and universal masking are so important. Another example: a person who works in corrections (jails and prisons). If they know that they have had an inmate or colleague with SARS CoV-2 infection, they must answer yes, but if not they answer no even though they have a risky job. None of these provide perfect protection, but they are quite effective and can keep us safe if universally practiced.

Good day to you! Thanks for your question. The answer is not so simple as it should be. The answer is also very simple if you know the person/people interacted with are SARS-COV-2 POSITIVE. When a test is negative that doesn't mean too much, because the next day a new test can be POSITIVE. From these possibilities come all confusions. Practically You may answer like this: From the best of my knowledge the people I interacted with / my work/office colleagues are not positive for the virus and according to their statement none of their family members are sick/carrier for the virus. The last but not the least: Medicine is not mathematics!
Good luck and stay safe!
