Do I need a CT scan for dental implants?

I want to replace the missing tooth with an implant. Do I need a CT scan for dental implants?

The ADA standard of care, prior to placing an implant is a CBCT or conebeam scan of the area. It is the only way th get a 3 dimensional look at the proposed treatment area.
generally it is recommended by the doctor so he can have a full view in all dimensions of the space he is dealing with so he can be fully prepared for the procedure.
