How long does the pain last after wisdom tooth extraction?

I had a wisdom tooth extraction 3 days ago. It still hurts. Should I see a dentist?

Depending on the type of surgery you had to remove the wisdom tooth, this may be possible. Call your dentist's office and inform them of your symptoms. They may want to see you for a follow-up visit or give you specific instructions on what they would like you to do.
The answer depends on how it is hurting. It is surgery so pain is expected for up to a week after treatment. Antibiotics and pain medications are usually given to make this period more comfortable. You should definitely see your dentist if you notices significant swelling, redness, bruising, and high temperature. We usually have the patients come in after a week for suture removal and check.
1 to 5 days of mild to moderate pain is normal. But if the pain is getting worse, please do see your dentist.
The pain usually lasts about a week after a wisdom tooth removal. You may want to contact your dentist to check to see if you have a dry socket.
