This can vary depending upon the individual. Most patients feel recovered anywhere from one to three weeks. Rest after surgery is essential to aid a full recovery.

After bariatric surgery, I would have you up and walking as soon as you recover from the anesthesia. Getting up and moving is the best way to help your body absorb the gas that is used to inflate you abdomen. It also helps prevent blood clots and pneumonia.
We have our patients walking within 4 hours after surgery. Walking as much as possible after surgery is important. Most patients take off between 3-10 business days of work, but that may vary depending on the amount of manual labor necessary for your job. It sometimes taking 4-6 weeks before your energy returns to normal, or even for you to feel more energetic than you did prior to surgery.
