I don't think it is more painful than any other abdominal surgery. Your surgeon should be able to answer all of your questions. I recommend you discuss all concerns with your surgeon.
If done laparoscopic technique should become manageable without narcotics in 2-4 days
You should have good pain management.
Any surgery will result in some pain. It depends on many factors: which surgery, complications, your pain tolerance, anxiety, depression. A surgeon is best to ask this question.
