Dentist Questions Tooth extraction

Can I experience pain after a tooth extraction?

I need to have one of my teeth extracted and I'm going to an oral surgeon to have this done. Would I experience any pain or soreness after my extraction? What should I expert pain-wise?

It’s an individual experience that depends on your body’s response and the ability of a dental surgeon to do a perfect extraction. Normally it’s better to keep the expectation low that way you are prepared. Normally it ok to expect to have some soreness and a mild pain that should be well controlled by postoperative treatment and medications as well as pre-operative medications such as steroids and anti inflammatory.
Should be some pain, but if it lasts long and doesn't get better, see your oral surgeon for a proper evaluation.
It is very normal to experience some soreness or degree of pain after an extraction. The amount of discomfort very often depends on the complexity of the extraction, s well as your personal pain threshold.
Great choice on seeing a specialist for an extraction. They do the best job usually! Yes, you can have pain after a surgery. They will review this with you before you have the procedure done. Write your questions down and review with them and they will be able to answer your questions. They will give you an option of post operative pain options. There are some great non-narcotic options available now. Follow your post-operative instructions, you can do this!
Honest answer to question would be - Yes. Just like any surgical procedure, there would be some post operative pain and discomfort. Good news is, your dentist team can carefully manage and minimize that. Speak to them, they will review your medical history and have a good pain management program for you. We do surgical procedures everyday and have a well managed post operative plan for every patient. When patients follow instructions and the dentist office has a good surgical and post-operative management, there is minimal discomfort afterwards.

Hope this helps,
