Plastic Surgeon Questions Rhinoplasty

Can a teenager get a nose job?

My teenager daughter wants to get a nose job, but I don't want her to get it because I feel like she's too young (16). She still has time to grow with it, in my opinion. Is it possible that she can still get one if I say no?

With parental permission, your daughter can undergo rhinoplasty. The craniofacial skeleton is fully grown at this point, so it is deemed safe to proceed.
Hello, although I am very conservative when it comes to the minimum age for cosmetic surgery, there are some exceptions to the rule. This is simply because of the psychological strain on the young patient. These include large deformed noses, severely large breasts and large ears. We actually perform ear tacking surgery (otoplasty) as young as age 9. We perform breast reduction as young as 16, and nose surgery or Rhinoplasty as young as 14. It all depends on the patient’s maturity level. That being said, we cannot touch the patient without the consent of a parent. You need to find a reliable qualified surgeon and consult with them to put your mind at ease. If you have any more inquiries or questions, you may visit my website at DrRoya.com. Good luck!
Typically it is important to be certain that you are fully grown prior to nose job surgery. In girls I usually wait until age 16, in boys sometimes a bit older. Call anytime for a virtual consultation to further discuss this matter if you so desire. Good luck.
The only question that differentiates a teenager from an adult is whether or not the face has finished changing. If you are sure her nasal shape had settled, then a consultation with a Board Certified facial surgeon (ENT or Plastic) is the next step if she wants to have surgery.

That is not a medical question but a legal one. So long as she is a minor and a dependent, no reputable surgeon will perform cosmetic surgery on her that you do not approve. Once she is emancipated, she can make these decisions for herself. You still have some control, though. If she lives under your roof and is supported by you, you have the right to set some guidelines and demand they be respected unless she wishes to leave and be on her own. One of those could pertain to cosmetic surgery. I don't think a rhinoplasty should be approached lightly and would hesitate to offer one to a girl younger than 18 or 19. Rhinoplasty surgery, under the best of circumstances, has a very high revision rate, on the order of ten percent.
I would recommend she be 18 years old or older please consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon
I don’t believe that at age 16 she could give adequate informed consent for this surgery and would require the approval of her parents. Even if it was possible, in my opinion, no reputable plastic surgeon would perform this type of surgery on a patient of her age without parental consent.
Your daughter can get a rhinoplasty. We usually say 15 years old for a female and 16 years old for a male. At this stage, the nose is fully developed. Of course, parental consent is required up until age 18.
Yes she can get a nose job but no septal work can be done till she is 18 y/o
She cannot get one if you say no. She is not an adult and it would be unethical for any surgeon to operate without your consent.
No. Your daughter cannot have any procedure without your consent unless she is an emancipated minor or has reached the age or majority which is 18 years old.
