Can you rebuild muscle after nerve damage?

I am a 32 year old male. I have nerve damage in my hand. I wonder if you can rebuild muscle after nerve damage?

Sometimes atrophy in a muscle can reverse but this depends on how severe the nerve compression or injury is, patients age, underlying comorbidities and how long there has been a nerve lesion present. Most muscle will not regenerate after nerve damage has been present for 1-2 years.
Usually, if the muscle is gone or diminished in size, that change is permanent.
The muscles can rebuild. if you have peristent symptoms, you should see a neurologist.
So it depends on the extent of the damage and how long it has been since your injury. The nerve connection to the muscle is what allows the muscle to function. Sometimes there are enough motor units left which is what makes up the muscle that the remainder of the muscles can be built up. As long as there is not a complete lack of nerve supply to the muscle, the remainder of the muscle fibers can gain some strength.
