Dentist Questions Toothaches

Could a toothache be caused by a problem with my jaw?

My jaw has felt out of whack since it popped loudly last week. Now my back teeth hurt on the top side where my jaw popped. Could a toothache be caused by a problem with my jaw?

Yes. Change in occlusion or bite, traumatic occlusion.
Yes, your jaw joint or TMJ has a wide range of motion. If your jaw is injured or muscles are tense or inflamed, that can change the way your teeth mesh together. So, instead of meshing well, they could be banging each other more forcefully than normal and that could cause a toothache.

Have a great day!

You need to see your dentist. If this is the first time your jaw popped you may have had an injury. You do not want to open your mouth too wide. When you yawn your may want to place your fist from each hand under your jaw to support it. You can use warm moist wash cloths, to make your jaw feel better. Follow your doctor's directions.
You may be grinding your teeth due to your jaw pain associated with your jaw popping out of position.
