It depends on anatomical location of the acupuncture points (from a couple of millimeters to a couple of centimeters).

Acupuncture needles come in a number of lengths from half an inch to two or more inches. It would depend on what part of the body, and size of the patient, etc.
How deep do the needles go? The needle depth varies depending on location and what is being treated. Generally the needles are inserted approximately ¼- to ½-inch deep
It could go in from 1mm to 1 in; some area has more flesh, some is more bony area. The practitioner will know and season different your energy will in different level.
The needles typically go in 1/2 in or 1 in. Depending on the party of the body you are inserting the needle. Acupuncture needles are one time use only, very thin, hair thin actually and go just beneath the surface of the skin . Most people feel very relaxed during treatment and even fall asleep.
Depends on what body parts are needled. The needle depth will range from 0.2-3 inches. For the majority of my patients, I use 0.5-1.5 inch needles. The insert depth will be 0.3-1.2 inches.
It depends the area. In face and hands it usually goes about 2 to 5 mm, the needle can go 2 cm to 7 cm in the buttock area. Acupuncture is 100 percent safe in experienced hands. Dr. Yali Li
It depends on the problems and locations on the body to determine how far the acupuncture needle goes in. Generally speaking, in up the back and bony area, the needle that goes in the body is very superficial to avoid injury to the internal organs and nerve and blood vessels. But, in arms and legs and rich muscular areas, it can go in more deeply as is needed.
Hi,
Depth of the needles are determined by the condition, location where the needle is inserted, and differs by practitioners. Please consult your local acupuncturist for more information.

This is an important question, and there are guidelines that all acupuncturists have to follow. Based on the area of the body, the needle might be slightly underneath the skin or slightly deeper, and it might be inserted perpendicularly or at an angle. It all depends. Now, there are many styles of acupuncture: Chinese, Japanese, and ... Based.
There are over 360 acupuncture points on the body. Each point has its own depth and angle to approach. We especially want to avoid puncturing major arteries or vital organs. Some points are as shallow as 0.01 cm and can range as far as 3-5 inches in depth. Usually, cases of sciatica or pregnancy will depend on those deep penetrations.

Insertion is based on a Chinese term called cun (soon), but in inches needles are inserted about 0.1 to 0.8 inches at various angles depending on the specific point and body frame of the individual.
The acupuncture needles usually go in from 1/4 to an inch. The depth of acupuncture needles depends on the location they need to treat. For example, we do 1/4 inch on arm, but 1/2 inch on the thigh. We will also adjust it by different body type.
Anywhere from .5mm to 60mm, depending on the condition, can be treated superficially like nerve conditions or deep like sciatica.

It all depends on what condition you have, where the problem is, what your body size is, etc. In general, can be deep, between 1mm-150mm.
Hello,
Acupuncture needles come in different lengths and gauges and the depth of insertion varies with the practitioner and technique. Depth also varies with type of issue being treated.

There are several considerations. It will depend on the selected point, the region of the body, the affected tissue and the technique chosen by the practitioner. That being said, needle insertion varies from 0.3 inch, just below the skin, to 3.5 inches, in big muscles. Commonly, it’s around 0.5 to 1.5 inches. A qualified acupuncturist has spent at least 3000 hours of training, has approved several anatomy courses, hundreds of supervised clinic hours and has approved several board exams.
The depth of the insertion of needles depends on the location of the body parts in addition to the goal of treatment.

Depends on the point. Some points are an inch deep, some are 1/10th of an inch deep. One in the hip is several inches deep.
Acupuncture points are located near or on the surface of the skin. Usually needles are inserted from 1/4 to 1 inch in depth. Depth of insertion will depend on nature of the condition being treated, the patients' size, age, and constitution, and upon the acupuncturists' style or school.
That depends on the area of your body. Some locations may only go in a few millimeters, and others areas allow for three inches of needle depth.
It depends on deference conditions, some conditions may need to farther go in, while other conditions just insert shallow; also depends on the patient is fat or skinny, seasons is another consideration, winter will go in farther while summer is going shallow. However, most consideration is needles must stay in a safe zoom, too far will damage the inside organs, never let it happen!!
It depends on what surface of the body is being needled. Some areas like the Buttocks can be needled more deeply like 3 inches. Other areas like between the ribs or on the sternum require a different type of insertion. General body points I'd say a centimeter to an inch.
Depth of needle insertion is highly variable and depends on:
1. The system of acupuncture your provider practices. Some systems routinely use deeper insertion, some routinely use shallower insertion.
2. The location being needled. Board certified and state licensed acupuncturists are very well trained in the anatomy around acupuncture points. Some places cannot be needled deeply due to anatomic structures or limitations.
3. The patients' body type. Thin skinny people have less space between the surface of the skin, the areas we want to reach with an acupuncture needle, and areas we don't want to reach with acupuncture needles. Larger individuals have more space between those structures and sometimes require longer needles and deeper insertion.
4. The condition being treated. In the Chinese medical model, different types of disease require different depths of needle insertion.
So, depending on the system your provider practices, what your chief complaint is, your body type, and where, exactly, the needles are placed, you could be looking at anything from a needle just barely under the skin, to around an inch
