Is appendix surgery painful?

I am a 33 year old female. I want to know if appendix surgery is painful?

All surgeries cause pain.
Somewhat and depends on weather surgery is done by laparoscopic versus open technique. Open surgery is slightly more painful however most surgeons inject long acting local anesthetic to the wound edges! Thus reducing postoperative pain.
Almost all of my patients tell me that the appendix surgery hurts less than the appendicitis.

If not complicated and done laparoscopic, usually is minimal pain and patients may go home within a day or day of surgery. Most appendix surgeries are considered urgent or emergent due to appendicitis and pain of surgery is less than pain caused by the inflamed appendix.

Not much.
They have not yet invented painless surgery.
I typically prescribe 5 days of pain medication to my patients after surgery, and most do not take all of them.
