“Why am I having issues with my breathing around paint?”
Yesterday, I suddenly felt breathless and started feeling dizzy because of the recent paint job at my friend's place. Why did this happen? Is this common or could I be allergic?

Fresh paint usually has a chemical odor to it, especially if it’s an oil based paint. I would say that this is an irritant which provokes sensitive airways rather than an allergic provocation.
