Treatment of depression can include therapy, self-care, medication, and important daily routines. With regard to therapy, we use mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy, which are all shown to be very effective treatment modalities.
The evidence based treatment for depression is called behavioral activation. You would pick one small thing you were doing prior to feeling depressed and commit to doing it (i.e., a weekly Zoom call with a friend, crochet, or a run) and do that thing consistently. It’s like the fake it till you make it.
Talk therapy is generally a good place to start in treating depression. You could ask your general physician for some names if you wish you interview therapists where you live/work. Most therapy right now, due to Covid 19, is occurring via telehealth. Yoga, meditation, exercise are all helpful in the treatment of depression as well, depending on just how depressed you might be. Of course, there are also clinical medications, Prozac and Zoloft being examples, that can also provide relief. Do get help of some sort...depression is a treatable illness.
Hi,

Thank you for your question. There are many forms of therapy to treat depression, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I would recommend you seek services from a mental health professional to help guide your therapeutic process to treat depression.
I hope this has been helpful!

I wish there was just one treatment option for depression, yet there are many. The treatment is usually individualized and based on both your self-reported strengths and limitation and the clinical observation of your counselor.
General methods to treat depression are talk therapy using cognitive behavioral therapy and medication management.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is most often used in situations of depression. However, different therapy types may be used. In addition, antidepressant medication is often prescribed.
Usually it is antidepressant medication
Cognitive-Behavior Therapy is the treatment of choice. It can be effective by itself or can make treatment with medication more effective.
