What are skin tags?

My friend has little things growing on his back and he says they're just skin tags. What are skin tags? Can they be removed?

Skin tags are little growths of excess skin that stick out on slender stalks. There is often a family trait tendency for their development. They can occur anywhere, but most often appear on fold areas, such as around the eyes, the neck, the under the breast, armpits and groin. They are easy to remove pretty painlessly under local anesthesia. I would suggest that your friend have his growths checked out by a dermatologist, since skin tags on the back would be quite unusual.
Benign extensions of the surface epidermis of the skin
Skin tags are fibromas, benign growths that can be removed simply. See a board certified dermatologist.
These are mostly small growths that are totally benign (nothing to worry about) on the skin that are easily removed. There is an inherited tendency to get these.
They are benign growths of normal skin. Yes, they can usually be easily removed with freezing or snipping
