Laparoscopic repair. Check You Tube and Wikipedia.
Toupe fundoplication is very effective. However, some benefit from linx device.
Have you tried changing diets to relieve the 'burn' from specific foods? Have you tried a product called Refluxin from Ecogical Formulas - contrary to the botttle's directions, take after the meal chewing separately three to four tablets followed by a small amount of water. If heartburn occurrs between meals, then take 2 tabs chewed apart with a tiny bit of water afterwards. not to exceed 8 chewables per day. Weight loss, if needed, will also help decrease or even cease heartburn.
Currently, the "gold standard" is the laparoscopic nissen fundoplication, but there are new technological advancements made in the treatment of GERD that does not have long-term results. Best to talk to your surgeon who will go over all the current treatment options with you.
Well, it depends on how bad it is and I would need to see the X-ray or CAT scan to know. The best answer is to go to a surgeon who specializes in treating this, experience matters. There are some new techniques that work well. In the meantime, pepcid works well for me. But search for a group that does these procedures on a weekly basis.
Hi
We recommend Hiatal Hernia Repair with nissen fundoplication or the Linx procedure. Hope we have answered your questions.
There are 3 main operations for reflux (GERD):
1. Standard fundoplication. The stomach is wrapped around itself to re-create a one-way valve at the top of the stomach.
2. Linx magnetic sphincter augmentation. A magnetic device is placed to re-create the one-way valve at the top of the stomach.
3. Gastric bypass. Great for patients who suffer from both reflux and obesity.

There are pros and cons to each procedure and will vary based on your anatomy, previous surgery, and your surgeon's preference and skill.
Hi, Dr. Willkomm here. In my opinion, the best surgery for GERD with good, proven, long-term effectiveness is a laparoscopic Nissen fundoplcation. There are newer procedures out there however there long term effectiveness is not known at this time.
