“What vitamins should I take to increase fertility?”
I am a 28 year old female. I want to know what vitamins should I take to increase fertility?
Dr. Janice H. Alexander OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Richland Center, WI
Prenatal vitamins with folic acid.
Dr. Israel K. Brown-Brantuoh OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Clovis, CA
Thank you for your question. Generally, most OTC multivitamins or prenatal Vitamins with at least 400 mcg of Folic Acid content is appropriate.
Dr. George E. Stefenelli OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) LaGrange, Georgia
Vitamins will not increase fertility. They are coenzymes for the chemical reactions taking place in the body.
Dr. Trevor Wing OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Halethorpe, MD
A good quality pre-natal multivitamin with 400mcg of folic acid
Dr. Robert G. Anding OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Houston, TX
My wife and daughter are Registered Dietitians and we don't know of any vitamin that increases fertility, however no one eats a perfect diet so a daily vitamin is always a good idea. When attempting pregnancy it is best to be on a prenatal vitamin for one to two months before conception.
