Psychologist Questions Depression

Can a lack of sleep cause depression?

I have not been sleeping well due to a hectic work schedule. Lately I have also been feeling depressed. Could this be related?

Absolutely!! Your brain needs oxygen, food and water to work correctly. Too much or too little of any of those will affect how you feel.
Sure. The lack of sleep can drive to psychosis thoughts, if not treated. Look for medical and mental health providers.

Specifically induced sleep deprivation has been shown to decrease depression....

Yes it can and many other habits. One separates themselves when not getting enough sleep and one ends up being lonely and depressed. One can make it up with weekend sleeps and no alcohol whatsoever
