The short answer is yes. Digestive issues often resolve with acupuncture treatment. Also rule out food allergies.
Yes. Acupuncture helps the body operate at its fullest potential - including digestion and other physiological systems. It can also address any emotional or mental factors that may be contributing.
Acupuncture might help.
Yes, acupuncture works very well at treating issues of digestion. We are also trained in nutrition and herbal medicine, so he may need multiple modalities to get right. But an acupuncturist would be a great place for him to start if he's willing to show up.
By going over his entire medical history and lifestyle habits (including diet, etc.), I would find the right treatment for him. There is a lot of research that shows success with acupuncture in the treatment of indigestion.

Yes, Acupuncture is extremely helpful in alleviating symptoms of indigestion. Sometimes the indigestion is a symptom of another underlying problem. Via tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis, I can evaluate what other organs are causing the indigestion and instead of just treating the symptom, I can also treat the cause. Chinese Herbs can be prescribed in combination with Acupuncture.
Yes, acupuncture is helpful for most digestive issues. I'd encourage your husband to keep a food diary as well. He might have developed a food sensitivity (or allergy) to a particular food group. Common ones include: gluten, dairy, corn, peanuts. I have noticed that stress plays an important role in digestion. Stress management is important! I always ask my patients "what can you do on your own every day to counter the effects of stress?" Meditation, exercise, reading, sitting outside, (weather permitting) etc.
Generally speaking, acupuncture can help in treating indigestion, but I would like to see your husband and talk to him to find out what causes the problem so that I will find the way to treat him.
I have many patients who suffer from indigestion. It is really hard to fix it overnight. But there is a pill I give it to patients and they feel immediately better after taking it. And also, follow up treatment with acupuncture!
Thank you for your question.

It is possible that acupuncture can help.

First, it important for your spouse to discuss with their primary care doctor the symptoms and for their provider to rule out possible serious issues such as an ulcer or any other number of issues.

Sometimes what we assume is a GI issue may not be GI but can be due to other conditions, for instance pulmonary or heart. Hence, allowing a primary care doctor to assess and weigh in is important.

Your spouse’s primary care doctor may have an established working relations with an acupuncturist, hence a recommendation on who to work with. Medical care is optimal when all your providers communicate with each other and do not operate in a silo.

Be Well,

Hi,

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are both shown to be beneficial for indigestion. That said, there are many different causes of indigestion and getting a proper diagnosis is the first step in a treatment plan. Indigestion can be treated without Chinese medicine, but depending on the diagnosis, it may be a worthwhile addition.

I'm happy to discuss this further or schedule a first treatment if you are ready to move forward.

Best wishes,

Yes, TCM treat GI disorder very effective, However, along with food therapy and herbal therapy from a experience TCM doctor will further prevent the condition recurrent
Acupuncture works quite well for digestive complaints. However, I'd suggest he start with either an elimination diet or some food allergy testing. The big three in terms of food sensitivity are: eggs, milk and, wheat. I offer a dried blood spot test that looks at 90+ food components and can help folks refactor their diet to something easier on their system.

Best regards,

I hope that answered your question, if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Call us anytime to schedule an appointment for your husband if he's interested in treatment.

Indigestion could be quite complicated even though it looks simple. He may have wrong choice of food for his body. We need to see what kind of symptoms he has and which food categories he has trouble with. Acupuncture can help to relieve the symptoms and balance his body. However, we need to figure out which food choice will be appropriate for his body as a long-term goal.
Thanks.
Good day,

Thank you for your email.
Acupuncture can help with indigestion by resetting the flow in the esophagus. It is not necessarily the food that is the trigger, but it is the "flow" and peristalsis of the esophagus. The coordinating of the doors or flaps between the stomach and small intestine, liver and gallbladder can be "reset' with the acupuncture needles in the specific acu-points.
Additionally, there are several exceptional Chinese herbal formulas that can be taken for a short period of time to help assist the digestive process.

I hope this helps.

It seems like your husband has had this condition for a long time. Was his condition reviewed by his physician to rule out any life-threatening condition?
If it is the case, then your husband could start acupuncture. Following the initial evaluation, the practitioner will be able to define the cause of the condition and create a treatment protocol. The practitioner will also review your husband's diet to identify the triggers. Herbal medicine might be suggested with this condition to increase the chance of success.

Hello,
Acupuncture helps to regulate the digestive functions, as well as strengthening the digestive organs (stomach, large and small intestine, gall bladder, etc.) to absorb more nutrients and get rid of the waste and toxins.

In Oriental Medicine, we think of three reasons why stomach is weak. First, the function of the stomach itself is weak. In this case, it may be due to the inherent weakness of the constitution and the food intake intemperately. Second, stress or anxious worries cause the liver to malfunction, causing stomach problems. And thirdly, if the function of the heart is weakened, the function of the stomach is weakened in turn. When we treat the weakened stomach function, first check the patient's lifestyle. Then figure out what the cause is and then treat it according to the symptoms. Please visit your nearest Oriental Medicine Clinic and get a detailed diagnosis. Thank you.
Hi, The short answer is yes, acupuncture can help with indigestion but a practitioner would need to communicate with the patient directly to find the best route for treatment. I have treated many patients with a variety of types of indigestion problems.

In Chinese medicine, the digestion system can be disrupted by emotional causes or physical causes and the acupuncture treatments help to regulate each. In some cases the indigestion is caused from a historical problem, i.e. someone had poor eating habits or ate too many types of food that are hot or foods that are cold or too sweet or too bitter, etc. Eating at improper times, eating when emotional, eating while trying to do mental work (study, learning, etc), sporadic eating, depriving self for times, etc. can all create a problem in the digestive system.

What I would need to know as a practitioner is what types of indigestion are happening, where in the body it is felt, what types of food is typical in your husbands diet (not just now but historically) and if there are any elimination problems.

I would also ask about stress levels, life stressors, emotional issues he may be experiencing, his feelings towards work or the community you live in etc. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine look at all aspects of the self to help distinguish what is actually leading to the complaint. From there we're able to have a better idea of how to treat.
Indigestion is a common condition especially in our country (US). It is important to try to eat in a relaxed environment, not too quickly, belt and clothing not too tight, and of course not too much food at one time. If more help is needed, then Chinese herbs for digestion, selected based on his specific symptoms, will be quite useful.
yes
Acupuncture is great at treating indigestion. Your acupuncturist will take a detailed history of the condition to understand what is causing the indigestion and determine the best course of treatment. The treatments are always individualized, not just to each patient, but also tweaked and tailored for the patient at every appointment. So, however your husband's condition is presenting, the treatment will always meet him where he’s at and balance the body out so it can work more efficiently and effectively. Essentially, all we are doing is speaking to the body in its own language to get the body to heal itself.
Yes, acupuncture helps. I also will check what kind of foods he is sensitive with.

Hope I answered your questions.
Thank you,

Jonathan
