Topical steroids.
During the early stages of scar formation use of SCAR REMOVAL CREAMS will help somewhat. IF you are prone to keloids then the surgeon should inject Kenalog (steroid) into the edges to prevent EXCESS scar tissue formation.
There are a number of Meds you can get at the drug store that you can rub on and it will help the scar not to show so much. Your doctor can tell you what he or she would want you to use if you can't find anything.
If your surgery is being done laparoscopically the incisions are very small, generally, the scarring is minimal. You can try applying some mederma cream once your surgeon okays it.
You will just have to see if there is a scar in the first place. If there is then get back to me towards the end of the year and we will what's best done.
Topical ointments and creams. Scar healing is better with ointments, don't let the incision dry and get irritated. Although everything scars so you won't get rid of it entirely.
Any scar should be healed uncomplicated following the surgeon’s instructions. Scars will gradually fade in time and become less visible. You can’t get rid of them, but if they are not aesthetically pleasing to you, discuss the possible ways to reduce the scar with your doctor, only after you leave at least 12 months post-operative.
If you are having laparoscopic surgery, your incisions will all be about 1 cm or less in length (about the length of a fingernail). They tend to fade away over time and it many patients, are barely, if at all, noticeable. There are lots of over the counter skin care and scar products available, but to the best of my knowledge, none have been proven to be overly successful. That being said, none of them should hurt your scar and feel free to try any of them.
You can get a treatment called contrast tubes seven days after the surgery for 2 months. If you get any scar, you have to apply corticoids or be evaluated by a plastic surgeon.
