How many sessions of acupuncture do you need for neck spasms?

I am a 33 year old female. I want to know how many sessions of acupuncture do you need for neck pain?

About four sessions .
We start with 6 sessions at 2x a week for 3 weeks. Everyone responses differently to treatment but usually expect you to be 30-40% better by the 6th session. Then we will taper down to every other week, so on and so forth.
I use cupping, a technique called gua sha, and acupuncture for neck spasms. It would depend on what the neck spasms are caused by. I would try at least 4 treatments. There should be a response by then.
Acupuncture will be performed at these five acupoints three times weekly for the first 2 weeks, and then two times weekly for the subsequent 2 weeks, giving a total of 10 sessions. Depends on symptoms
It depends how you respond to the treatment and how long you have the pain. Usually 6-8 treatments work well.
It is hard to tell you exactly the number of sessions you might need to fix neck problems I suggest you to try acupuncture with massage and herbs so you should feel gradually better!
One time
That is dependent upon the severity of your condition and many other variables. How long has this been going on? The longer you suffer with a condition, the longer it will (or may) take to heal. What other forms of treatment have you tried so far? If you've taken an active part in your health and have sought out other methods of healing, then it may not take as long. What is your past history in regards to MVA's, falls, sports injuries? The more damage your body has sustained with accidents or repetitive stress conditions, the harder it will be to treat. What do you do for work? Are you on the computer all day/ a lot??? Acupuncture may work well and quickly for you, but if you are doing something daily and frequently, the spasms will return or you may get poor results with acupuncture.
In the meantime, try some heat on the neck/upper back, alternate with ice, do some LIGHT stretching of the neck muscles, drink plenty of water, get a pillow that supports your neck properly and lastly, watch what you are doing for work and play.....any repetitive motions and try to limit the action/motion as much as possible. Try to get up and walk around occasionally during the day if at all possible. Doing one or all of these things daily may be enough. Good luck!!
It depends the causes. You can have significant relief with about 3 session if you have no history of neck injury in past.

1 session to take away neck spasms, 2 more sessions to take away neck pain almost completely.
It depends on how severe your neck pain is. If it is an acute neck spasm, it will take 2-3 sessions to resolve the pain. If it is more severe and chronic neck pain, it could take 4-6 sessions to see improvement.
3-6 sessions
Thank you for a question,

Treatment will depend on your own symptom relief. It’s a very individualized approach. So, there’s no one answer for your question. You should always feel comfortable having an honest and open discussion with your acupuncturist about how your treatment is going and response, and the additional number of sessions they may anticipate you will need based on how you’re responding.

Be well,

B
Hello,

4-6 sessions of Acupuncture are recommended.
The treatment sessions depend on how long do you have neck pain? We only treat one or three times if you have this issues about one month or less. We will treat them five to eight times if the problems over three years.
Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry. It’s very hard to say how many sessions you need for your complaint without seeing a patient. Everyone reacts differently and there are a lot of factors that makes difference. Please contact the licensed acupuncturist near you.
1-3 times. You can see the good result after the first session.
Depends on the severity of the spasms, and the muscles involved. But you should feel some relief from the first session. After being evaluated by a physician and ruling out any major lesions. A course of acupuncture should take between 5 and 10 sessions.
That is a great question. Acupuncture has been studied extensively on patients with neck pain. In a 2018 study, it took between 6 and 15 sessions to abate the pain. Also in some patients their pain was alleviated for 12 months. I know it has helped a number of my patients.
Usually, acupuncture requires 12 sessions. However, if this is only a spasm and all you want to achieve is pain control, 1 or 2 sessions could be enough.

There is no set number of treatments necessary for neck spasms. Every person and problem is different.
This depends on the person and how severe the pain is. Typically, for all new acupuncture patients, I like weekly for about a month to make lasting effects. Then monthly follow ups. Though I will also utilize natural medicine such as supplements to accelerate and hold treatments longer.
I could not give you an estimate without fully knowing your medical history...

But, here's how I would gauge it: Were you born weak with an inherited weakness from your parents? If so, it could take longer end of estimate. Do you get adjustments from a skilled chiropractor to ensure your neck vertebra are in alignment? If not, it would probably take longer and if a major misalignment, might not work at all or just reduce pain somewhat. Generally speaking, you should expect results. If I was your practitioner, in 1-10 treatments (weekly after first two, three days apart).
If the neck pain is related to muscular tension, acupuncture + massage is the best. Good luck.
The average care plan for neck acupuncture is 2-3 times a week for a couple of weeks. Most patients respond very well and in a short period of time.
Every patient is different and it depends on what is causing the spasms, but I highly recommend coming in for treatment.
For my opinion ( according to my treatment) , 2-3 sessions enough.
The "how many treatments" question is one I get a lot. It's very difficult to answer for several reasons:

1. The Chinese diagnostic system takes in to account individual factors in presentation. Three people could walk in to my clinic with "neck pain/neck spasm" but, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, all three could be experiencing the issue for different reasons. Those different root causes will have different treatments. Some root causes respond faster to treatment than others and some people respond faster to treatment than others.

2. There are a variety of different systems of acupuncture. Some of these systems are better for dealing with certain kinds of issues relative to other systems. Without knowing what kind of acupuncture your provider practices, it's hard to know whether or not there's a good fit between that system of acupuncture and your issue.

3. As in conventional medicine, some practitioners are just better with certain kinds of issues relative to other practitioners. There's an add-on here specific to acupuncture: depending on where you're located, there could be providers who offer "acupuncture" without having attended school for Chinese medicine or actually being licensed or board certified as an acupuncturist. Without knowing whether or not you're seeing a board certified and state licensed acupuncturist and what that person's track record with pain or musculoskeletal conditions it is, again, difficult to predict what a course of therapy might look like.

Let's make a few assumptions and try to give some general guidance. Assuming your neck pain/spasm isn't severe in terms of either frequency or pain levels (i.e. you're typically under 5-6/10 on a pain scale and there are days or times during the day where you experience no pain) and assuming you're seeing a board certified, state licensed acupuncturist (as opposed to a chiropractor or physical therapist) and assuming that person works primarily with pain conditions, you may be looking at something like 5 or 6 treatments spaced one week apart to bring the issue, more or less, under control. After that you might be looking at a few treatments with a greater spacing (every other week or every third week) and then you're probably looking at either issue resolution or maintenance.

Maintenance is likewise variable. On the low end you could be receiving one treatment every 4-6 weeks. On the high end you could be looking at one treatment per year.
That is dependent on why you have the neck pain, how long you've had it, and your compliance with your practitioners treatment plan.

Typically, the longer something has been in existence, the longer it will take to resolve. Please not that acupuncture has a cumulitive effect. As you continue with regular treaments, your results will last longer and longer and eventually, you may be able to decrease your treatment frequency.
