Dr. Barbara A. Tarnoski, D.M.D.
Dentist | General Practice
Dr. Tarnoski practices at Philadelphia Dental Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry, LLC. This office offers LANAP and LAPIP Laser Services. These services use the Periolase MVP-7 Laser(TM). This laser, was built specifically to treat gum disease of natural teeth (LANAP) and gum disease of implants (LAPIP). The unique wavelength targets the bacteria that causes gum disease but uses a minimally invasive, BUT highly effective treatment. With LANAP and LAPIP there is no cutting/no sewing. There is less pain. This laser stimulates YOUR OWN BODY's STEM CELLS. Your body rebuilds its own supporting tooth structures to the best of its ability. THIS IS "YOUR SECOND CHANCE" to start with a mouth free of all gum disease bacteria. All gum disease bacteria is gone in one treatment!
Good mouth care is now your future. Mouth bacteria, gum disease bacteria, are not just staying in your mouth. The research shows, bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream and is traveling to your brain, liver, pancreas, kidneys, joints, bladder, (etc.). Gum Disease and ALZHEIMER'S--There is a relationship. Inflamed arteries and veins, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, High blood sugar, Pancreatic Cancer, all have a relationship. A high percentage of these patients have or had gum disease.
Our office helps patients develop a mouth care plan. No flossing, careless brushing but you visit your dentist twice a year? Patients have their teeth in their mouth--24/7: putting food in your mouth continuously, not cleaning your mouth to remove food particles? Food particles are rotting in your mouth and along with the bacteria and this is moving all over you body and we know this can't be good. The damage from cigarettes alone has injured our bodies. You don't smoke? But what about the bacteria and the toxins roaming all over your body, this can't good. The best you can do is clean your mouth, teeth and remove the bacteria. Your significant other can also have gum disease. Close contact
transmits gum disease. Parents lack of good mouth care can affect their children.
Mouth care is major part of our office. We also work with those patients who have been in head and neck pain longer than 18 months. We work with TMJ patients but also work with patients who are still in pain.
Our office practices general dentistry.

feel has to destroy everything. but the only thing that you are doing is irritating your mouth tissues. Your doctor probably looked at your mouth tissues, by his advice, probably saw your tissues needed rest. Mouth care must be done
every day. Flossing, brushing with a soft toothbrush, cleaning your tongue and rinsing with warm salt water finishes the job. There are
appliances that you can wear for 10-15 minutes
morning and night. These are trays, a special medication is placed at the bottom of each tray.
The upper and lower tray are one piece and are
warn together. These trays are used as an added treatment to prevent or treat gum disease. For those concerned about mouth odor, frequent use of mouthwashes to mask odor, sometimes worsens the problem. Changing your home care routine, using salt water rinses will heal those irritated tissues.
You will feel the difference.

What foods should I avoid with a permanent crown?
As a rule, my advice is to be kind to your teeth. Patients think their teeth and crowns are tools. A crown does not make your tooth stronger than your other teeth. If you don't know how to floss, ask your dentist. If your tooth had a root canal, you can develop cavities at the gum line. You do not have a nerve in a root canal tooth. Your tooth can have deep decay and you will not feel it. Flossing the gum line of all your teeth morning and night keeps gum disease at bay. Brushing at the gum line of all your teeth,( half tooth, half gum. cheek side, the tongue side, palate side, ). Clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner or a spoon with the rounded side facing up. Place the spoon in the middle of your tongue and go back as far as you can without gagging.
Scrape the center from back to front. You may find a lot of material in the nooks and crannies of your tongue, then do each side. Rinse your mouth with salt water, then gargle. Biting down on hard ice. Sticky foods. Flossing and brushing will keep your teeth.

information the office gives to new denture patients. You have to brush the food particles off your dentures. Rinse your dentures and place them in a container with fresh water. If you are using tablets to add to the water, place them in the clean water, soak overnight. Depending on the patient, some patients sleep with their dentures. Your dentures should be be out of your mouth for at least 4 hours a day. You have to clean your mouth and tongue. You can use salt water and gauze, or toothbrush and lightly brush your ridges and tissues. To clean your tongue, you can buy a tongue cleaner. Or take a spoon, turn the spoon so the round part of your spoon faces your palate, go back as far as you can with your spoon so you don't gag. Start in the middle and move the spoon, scraping your spoon out of your mouth. You will find a lot of debris hiding in your tongue's nooks and crannies. Do the two other sides of your tongue. Rinse your mouth with salt water, then gargle. Remember to change your container with fresh water. You can use baking soda in soaking water.
