Kim Nguyen is an acupuncturist practicing in Richmond, VA. Dr. Nguyen evaluates and treats patients based on the concepts of oriental medicine. Acupuncturists complete their evaluations by getting a patient history and looking at and touching the body. Then, they place very fine acupuncture needles into specific points on the body. Stimulating these points and nerves is how Dr. Nguyen treats the patients condition. Many of the bodys systems respond to acupuncture, and it can treat physical pain as well as emotional stress.

  • Is acupuncture for your neck safe?

    Absolutely. If you feel uncomfortable about needles going near your neck, tell your acupuncturist. In most cases, your acupuncturist does not need to use local points to provide relief for your neck pain. I practice Balance Method Acupuncture and I do not needle where it hurts. Hope this helps!     Yes, acupuncture can balance hormones, increase circulation throughout the body, improve the quality of blood and regulate the menses, thereby increasing the likelihood of conception. It can still be effective if you are on blood thinners, as we try our best to avoid capillaries, veins and arteries. I would be more cautious of prescribing herbs if you were taking blood thinners.
