  • Can chiropractic care help with arm pain?

It depends on what is the cause. Trust that a Chiropractic physician can perform a thorough exam and determine if your arm pain is caused by pinched nerve or strain of muscle or tendonitis, etc. The one scary thing to rule out first is left arm pain that is vague and could be referral pain from a heart issue. That would be best addressed with urgent care. Any additional symptoms like chest pain or pressure , shortness of breath, sweating, heart beat has changed or even jaw pain can all mean heart trouble, so call 911 with those symptoms. READ MORE

  • What is the best treatment for back pain?

Start with the type of doctor that sees the most back pain cases... a Chiropractic physician. I would always take xrays to rule out developmental issues in the spine. Then if muscle issues are significant, add on a good PT for training. READ MORE

  • How often should you see a chiropractor for neck pain?

This can vary widely. In my opinion, go three times a week for two weeks then if some progress is being made, continue 2 x week for 2 weeks then taper off watching to see if pain returns or stays fixed. This is just a common scenario as each case may have reasons to be different. If you are trying to just prevent pain that is not present at the moment, and you have a chronic issue like a job wearing a heavy helmet or you sleep on your stomach, then once a month is a good idea. • Why does my lower back crack?

Hello, that is a common question. The noise itself is explained by the same principle as a champagne bottle making a pop noise as cork is set free. The sudden change in pressure inside a contain space filled with fluid, and in your back that is the pairs of joints in the back of spine called facet joints. When you say often ... does it only crack when turning one way? That could be an imbalance where the opposite side is too tight and the other joint is too loose, so pops easily. the pop only occurs at full stretch on the joint. Try doing some toning like plank and side plank, bird dog exer and see a chiropractor if it keeps up every day. Popping once a week or less can be perfectly normal in some people your age. It is never normal to hurt when it pops, officially called Cavitation if you want to Google that. READ MORE

  • Is chiropractic treatment safe for babies?

Hello, I personally see babies as soon as mom notices anything not symmetrical about how the baby moves , holds its head, or for colic, ear infections or unable to sleep well. The main thing is to find someone who won't force your three year old to do something they aren't ready for. You cannot safely adjust a child that is fighting the adjustment! So we start slow and gentle and I have three year olds running to jump on my table because they feel better afterward. I have also had kids on autism spectrum that won't stand being touched by me. Then I train parents on some gentle massage and stretches if child lets parents touch them. It is very safe from a technical stand point by someone doing what they are supposed to be doing. I would get adjusted by the doctor first if it was my kid and ask them to adjust you as if you were the 3 yr old to get a sense of how it feels. Hope that helps. And yes I adjusted my child and she is 12 now and still asks to be adjusted occasionally when she feels something isn't right. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with a fractured vertebrae?

Yes and no. The bone will heal on its own, but a chiropractor trained in nutrition will make sure you are getting proper nutrition needed to heal bones as fast as nature allows. We help with the muscles above and below. If your low back is fractured, its still safe to get your neck adjusted. The doctor will help you with advise on your daily routine to avoid aggravation of the back while it heals. Acupuncture can also help with the pain. Some Chiropractors do that as well. Micro electric current can help too. READ MORE

  • How long does it take to fix bad posture?

It takes less time than it will if you wait longer. It also depends on how many hours you have to work in that position, how often you get adjusted and IF you do the exercises recommended daily. If it were me, I would start with a 60 min deep tissue massage, (you likely will be sore from this for 1-2 days) basic adjustments to whole spine, and then after motion is restored to all joints start yoga 2 x week. • Sharp upper back pain?

It may go away as quick as it came, but because of underlying factors that caused it to do that in the first place, I would see a chiropractor for a few sessions to improve the mechanics and balance the muscle pull. Maybe a massage if you can find anyone doing that these days. READ MORE

  • Why does the side of my foot feel like it needs to crack?

It probably does! I can't adjust or crack my own joints so don't try but see a chiropractor that likes to work on feet. Ask around because some will not. There are many little bones in the mid foot and they all need to glide a little for normal foot mechanics. When one is stuck to another that feeling develops. READ MORE

  • How do chiropractors adjust ankles?

There are two main ways... some sort of By Hand push or pull maneuver or Instrument assisted where a small rubber tip the size of a pool stick tip, is placed on the spot needing motion and then a tapping motion is put thru joint space usually several times. If you have a history of torn ligaments from bad sprained ankles, go with the second method. READ MORE

  • Can you go to a chiropractor for foot pain?

Some do and some don't. Also depends on which state you live in. Some states have chiropractors specialize in spine only. I am in Illinois and I work on feet. Intense pain may be best addressed by orthopedic doctor to rule out fracture. But if bone spur on heel, try chiropractic before an injection. I saw one foot pain that was diabetic related, one was autoimmune related. So MDs can run blood tests if concerned about those things. READ MORE

  • How do you realign your foot?

  • Can a chiropractor help with plantar fasciitis?

Yes some treat that. Call first and ask. I have had success with treating it using massage, ultrasound and sometimes soft orthotics and stretching. Even Acupuncture is better that steroids. READ MORE

  • How can I adjust my ankles myself?

You cannot, and I cannot adjust myself either even though I am a Chiropractor. READ MORE

  • How should I sleep with impinged shoulders?

On your back face up, with small pillow. If uncomfortable on your low back, put a rolled blanket under your knees. READ MORE

  • Is sleeping on your side bad for your shoulders?

Not typically. However if your shoulder is healing from injury or surgery, you should avoid that side. If it hurts to lie on it you could have diagnosed bursitis READ MORE

  • Can you see a chiropractor after cervical fusion?

Yes, if the doc practices low movement, specific techniques. I am assuming you mean well after the fusion has healed and stabilized after surgery. Most commonly, the lower neck is fused. If that was the case, for example, a chiropractic physician can provide a lot of relief to upper cervical which can help with headaches and even blood pressure You just avoid adjusting the bones immediately above and below the fusion levels. There could still be other reasons adjusting is not warranted, but go in for the consult and exam and a chiropractor can recommend massage or acupuncture if mobilization of bones is not indicated. Don't let others make that call. I don't let my dentist tell me if I need bunion surgery, nor should any MD tell you what a chiropractor can and cannot do for you. Our profession has too many differences for them to know. READ MORE

  • How do I strengthen my back scoliosis?

The best way I found is through balance exercises. While yoga can help, you want to be careful how its done. There are Yoga for Scoliosis DVDs out there. Swimming and horseback riding can help. standing on a BOSU ball or doing exercises like Bird Dog (from hand and knees, raise opposite arm and leg and hold still 5 sec.) Chiropractic can help when someone knows not to adjust hypermobile joints. Very gentle techniques can send signals to the brain and back to the area creating better brain-body awareness and therefore greater control of joint posture and movement patterns. READ MORE

  • Can you reverse scoliosis?

Well if you have had it for many years and you have reached skeletal maturity (>25 yrs old) then probably not more than a few degrees. Sudden onset scoliosis due to muscles spasm or weakness can be reversed. Seek a doctor who specializes in scoliosis for a personal exam and prognosis. There are a few docs with special rehab equipment and if you can put in 3 days a week for 6 months who knows... READ MORE

  • How can I strengthen my spine?

First and easiest... Walk , 1-5 miles a day. best if on uneven ground for part of it at least. Next core exercises... always start with very easy ones, master them being able to do them with good form and lots of rep or time before moving to harder ones. Find a DC / PT to help if you have a history of problems with your back. READ MORE
