Dentist | General Practice

Dr. Barbara Tarnoski is a Dentist practicing in Drexel Hill, PA. Dr. Tarnoski specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases and conditions associated with the mouth and overall dental health. Dentists are trained to carry out such treatment as professional cleaning, restorative, prosthodontic, and endodontic procedures, and performing examinations, among many others.

Dr. Tarnoski practices at Philadelphia Dental Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry, LLC. This office offers LANAP and LAPIP Laser Services. These services use the Periolase MVP-7 Laser(TM). This laser, was built specifically to treat gum disease of natural teeth (LANAP) and gum disease of implants (LAPIP). The unique wavelength targets the bacteria that causes gum disease but uses a minimally invasive, BUT highly effective treatment. With LANAP and LAPIP there is no cutting/no sewing. There is less pain. This laser stimulates YOUR OWN BODY's STEM CELLS. Your body rebuilds its own supporting tooth structures to the best of its ability. THIS IS "YOUR SECOND CHANCE" to start with a mouth free of all gum disease bacteria. All gum disease bacteria is gone in one treatment!

Good mouth care is now your future. Mouth bacteria, gum disease bacteria, are not just staying in your mouth. The research shows, bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream and is traveling to your brain, liver, pancreas, kidneys, joints, bladder, (etc.). Gum Disease and ALZHEIMER'S--There is a relationship. Inflamed arteries and veins, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, High blood sugar, Pancreatic Cancer, all have a relationship. A high percentage of these patients have or had gum disease.

Our office helps patients develop a mouth care plan. No flossing, careless brushing but you visit your dentist twice a year? Patients have their teeth in their mouth--24/7: putting food in your mouth continuously, not cleaning your mouth to remove food particles? Food particles are rotting in your mouth and along with the bacteria and this is moving all over you body and we know this can't be good. The damage from cigarettes alone has injured our bodies. You don't smoke? But what about the bacteria and the toxins roaming all over your body, this can't good. The best you can do is clean your mouth, teeth and remove the bacteria. Your significant other can also have gum disease. Close contact
transmits gum disease. Parents lack of good mouth care can affect their children.

Mouth care is major part of our office. We also work with those patients who have been in head and neck pain longer than 18 months. We work with TMJ patients but also work with patients who are still in pain.

Our office practices general dentistry.

Cigarettes contain nicotine. Nicotine has always affected your gum health and could be a factor in squamous cell carcinoma. The heat factor of
cigarettes on your lips and the smoke on your mouth tissues along with the nicotine in your saliva is a constant irritant to your gum tissues. It took a long time to educate the public about cigarettes smoking and lung cancer. Cigarettes were also destroying your tooth supporting structures, staining your teeth and adding to mouth odor.
The biggest threat to the PUBLIC HEALTH NOW and FUTURE PUBLIC HEALTH IS GUM DISEASE.
Most people will not clean their teeth properly.
INFLAMMATION has been a serious health concern for years. No one could figure out what was causing INFLAMMATION.
INFLAMMATION starts in your mouth. We eat every day. Plaque forms on our teeth every day.
Even if we did not eat, plaque would form. We have to floss correctly and brush correctly daily.
While we are young, your body's defenses (your immune system) tries to protect your mouth tissues. teeth, supporting bone and tissues. We don't help protect our health. If we don't floss and brush correctly daily, we are adding more bacteria, their toxic wastes, fighting cells your body sends, dead bacteria and fighting cells and their toxins. This mass hardens in 24-48 hours. The calcium in your saliva hardens on this mass and irritates your gum tissues. Now if you smoke, you are adding nicotine to this mass. Nicotine is toxic to your tissues. Nicotine destroys gum tissues. It inhibits or prevents healing. NICOTINE BY SLOWING OR PREVENTING YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM FROM FIGHTING FOR YOU, ALLOWS GUM DISEASE TOXINS INCLUDING NICOTINE TO DESTROY YOUR SUPPORTING BONE AND TISSUES. AS YOUR BONE AND TISSUES DISAPPEAR YOUR TEETH MAY START TO LOSEN. DEPENDING ON WHEN YOU STARTED SMOKING AND THE LACK OF CORRECT FLOSSING AND BRUSHING, YOUR MOUTH AND TEETH ARE BEING ATTACKED BUT SO IS YOUR ENTIRE BODY. WHEN THE BACTERIA, TOXINS ETC. GET NEAR YOUR TEETH ROOTS, THE BLOOD VESSELS BELOW YOUR ROOTS IS AN OPEN HIGHWAY FOR THE BACTERIA AND THEIR TOXIC WASTE AND THE NICOTINE CAN TRAVEL THROUGH OUT YOUR BODY AND ORGANS. YOUR BLOOD VESSELS ARE LINED WITH LIVING CELLS AND BECOME INFLAMED. BLOOD PRESSURE MAY BE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS MAY BE HARD TO CONTROL. MEDICATION CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE NOT TAKEN CARE OF THEIR TEETH. YOUR BODY ORGANS ARE ALSO BEING AFFECTED. PATIENTS CAN STOP THE ON GOING INFLAMMATION PROCESS BY GETTING THEIR GUM DISEASE TREATED. SMOKING PATIENTS MAY HAVE MORE CONCERNS DUE TO THE NICOTINE EXPOSURE. YOU NEED TO GET YOUR GUM DISEASE TREATED IF YOU HAVE IT. EVERY ONE HAS TO GET ON A GOOD CORRECT FLOSSING AND CORRECT BRUSHING ROUTINE
DAILY. NICOTINE IN CIGARETTES IS FAR MORE DAMAGING TO PEOPLE WHO SMOKE. THE POPULATION'S HEALTH IS AT RISK FROM PEOPLE REFUSING TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR TEETH. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NOT DOING CORRECT
DAILY FLOSSING AND BRUSHING CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO OUR HEALTH NOW AND IN THE FUTURE. SMOKING CAN MAKE THIS PROBLEM BEGIN EARLIER.

THERE ARE TINY TOOTHBRUSHES FOR INFANT MOUTH CARE. THERE ARE OTHER ITEMS FOR SMALL BABIES. YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR SON WILL WANT WHATEVER YOU ARE USING. SO, YOU SHOULD BUY A TOOTH CLEANING ITEM FOR YOUR SON TO HOLD. IF YOU FLOSS, I WOULD TAKE A SMALL SMALL PIECE OF FLOSS, DO NOT GIVE ANY FLOSS TO YOUR SON, YOU SHOULD TAKE THE FLOSS AND SLIDE IT GENTLY BETWEEN HIS TWO FRONT TEETH, YOU GENTLY SLIDE THE FLOSS ALONG SIDE ONE SIDE OF HIS TOOTH, YOU GENTLY SCRAPE THE AREA BELOW HIS GUM. YOU MOVE THE FLOSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TWO FRONT TEETH, YOU GENTLY GO DOWN AS FAR AS YOU CAN AND GENTLY SCRAPE. YOU THEN DO THE OUTER SIDE OF THE TOP AND BOTTOM TEETH. YOU CAN TAKE A GAUZE 2 X 2 AND GENTLY RUB FROM THE GUM LINE TO THE BITING EDGE. YOU DO THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF HIS TOOTH. DO THIS TOP AND BOTTOM TEETH. IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOUR SON TO GET USE TO SOMEONE CLEANING HIS TEETH. MORE THAN LIKELY YOUR CHILD IS TAKING VITAMINS WITH FLUORIDE. AS YOUR BABY GROWS, YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR BABY'S TEETH CHECKED BY A DENTIST AT AROUND A YEAR OLD. YOUR BABY'S DENTIST WILL JUST MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS OKAY. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE DENTAL INSURANCE, ALL DENTAL WORK WILL HAVE TO BE PRE-PAID BEFORE A HOSPITAL SCHEDULES THE APPOINTMENT. WE USE TO THINK THAT PEDIATRICIANS, OBGYN'S, HOSPITALS INSTRUCTED NEW MOTHERS ABOUT CARING FOR THEIR INFANT'S TEETH. ANYONE WHO CARES FOR AN INFANT SHOULD BE REMINDED ABOUT PUTTING A YOUNG CHILD TO BED WITH A BABY BODY FILLED WITH WATER ONLY.

Being 23 years old, now is the time to learn how to floss and brush your teeth correctly. When you floss your teeth, (finger flossing is the best and CHEAPEST, GLIDE IS THE BEST FLOSS). YOU slide the floss along the side of your tooth.
YOU DO NOT TOUCH THAT POINTED PINK TISSUE. YOU slide the floss down as far as you can, and gently scrape that side of your tooth. You move the floss to a clean area. You move the floss to the adjacent tooth. You slide the floss down along the side of your tooth and gently scrape. You should be flossing correctly at least once a day. Because people work all hours of the day, the time that you sleep the longest is when you should be flossing before you sleep. If your gums are bleeding it means that you have not been flossing every day or not getting the debris out or not flossing correctly.
Those plastic flossers have a stringlike piece of floss. PLASTIC FLOSSERS SHOULD BE USED FOR FRONT TEETH ONLY. P. FLOSSERS CAN'T
FLOSS your side and back teeth properly.
Patients don't take care of their teeth. If you have large fillings, you should not be chewing and biting ice. Eating hard NUTS, biting hard candies can crack your fillings. Placing those plastic flossers and digging between your back teeth will remove your filling that you already cracked. Sometimes when you floss, if you have a tight contact it might be better to pull the floss
straight out near the gumline than trying to yank it out through the contact. If you use those little brushes to remove the plaque and debris from between your teeth you may want to rinse the brush before placing the brush between the next two teeth. Now brushing. You start at the last tooth in one corner of your mouth. With a soft toothbrush, place your toothbrush half tooth and half gumline. You brush BACK AND FORTH GENTLY, move your toothbrush to the next two teeth. Keeping your tooth brush at the gumline.
Going all around at the gumline. When you get to the last tooth on the other side of your mouth,
brush BEHIND the last tooth and move to the gumline where your tongue and palate are. You have gumline plaque there. You brush your gumline all around to the other side. Then you brush the gumline on your upper or lower depending on where you started. After you have taken care of your gumline, upper and lower then you brush your flat surfaces upper and lower. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. I/2 tsp salt to 8 oz. glass of warm water.
Now you clean your tongue. You can take a tongue cleaner or take a teaspoon, turn the teaspoon so the round part is facing your palate.
Place your tsp. on your tongue as far back without gagging and gently scrape your tongue as you move the spoon forward out of your mouth. You will see a slimy mass of debris. That is what is hiding out in the nooks and crannies of your tongue. Scrape the other two sides of your tongue. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water, Then gargle with the salt water. You eat every day and you have to clean the plaque and rotting food off your teeth. If you do not floss CORRECTLY AND BRUSH CORRECTLY YOU WILL EVENTUALLY YOUR TEETH. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE YOUR TEETH!
YOU CAN SAVE YOUR TEETH. YOU WILL BE PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM FUTURE MEDICAL PROBLEMS.

If your tooth is not infected- no throbbing or swelling, this is the time to have your tooth extracted. If your tooth is infected, pain, throbbing, and swelling, our OFFICE places our patients on antibiotics first. We get emergency calls from patients who have gone to the emergency room. These patients were given high doses of a penicillin containing antibiotic and told to take the antibiotic twice a day. These patients may have been given a narcotic pain medication or 600 mg to 800 mg tablets of ibuprofen. Our office uses a broad spectrum antibiotic not in the penicillin group. We get phone calls late at night
with patients crying they can't stand the pain.
Some patients don't follow DIRECTIONS. But with the number of phone calls of patients climbing walls in pain possibly the antibiotic regimen is not working. If patients have to wait an hour to eat or two hours after eating, some patients can't or don't wait. If a patient is hurting
and swelling in most cases the infected area may feel numb but local anesthesia may not work. You touch the tooth and the patient lets you know the tooth hurts. If the patient has a form of diabetes, the infection has to be under control. A tooth extraction doesn't usually hurt while it is being extracted. We tell our patients to take the pain medication before the local anesthesia wears off. This way your pain medication will be working when your anesthesia wears off. Follow your doctor's DIRECTIONS and don't rinse your mouth for 24 hours after the extraction. Some patients get into problems because they don't follow directions. Sometimes it is good to take some one with you. You are having dental surgery.

How often you should see your dentist depends on how well you take care of your teeth. With the latest research, gum disease is becoming the ENEMY #1. Yes heredity plays a part but gum disease seems to be the TRIGGER. FLOSSING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB YOU HAVE TO DO. PLAQUE FORMS ON OUR TEETH
EVERY DAY. PLAQUE IS A SEMI CLEAR STICKY SUBSTANCE THAT FORMS ON OUR TEETH EVERY DAY. PLAQUE IS LOADED WITH BACTERIA. EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T EAT, PLAQUE WOULD STILL FORM.
PLAQUE CRYSTALLIZES AFTER 24-48 HOURS IN THAT PLAQUE YOU HAVE LIVING AND DEAD BACTERIA, ROTTING FOOD PARTICLES, LIVING AND DEAD FIGHTING CELLS YOUR BODY HAS SENT TO FIGHT THE BACTERIA AND TOXIC WASTE THAT ALL THOSE CELLS GIVE OFF ALSO KNOWN AS TOXINS. WHILE THE PLAQUE CRYSTALLIZES, YOU HAVE CALCIUM IN YOUR SALIVA THAT ALSO HARDENS. TARTAR STICKS TO YOUR TEETH AND IS HARD TO REMOVE. USUALLY ONLY DENTAL EQUIPMENT CAN REMOVE IT. PLAQUE AND TARTAR SEEM LIKE THEY ARE THE SAME THING. TARTAR IS POROUS AND ALLOWS PLAQUE TO PENETRATE IT ALL THE HE WAY DOWN TO YOUR TOOTH SURFACE. THE TOXIC WASTE OF BACTERIA IS ALSO ACIDIC. THIS ACIDIC MATERIAL TAKES THE CALCIUM OUT OF ENAMEL AND LEAVES "WHITE SPOTS" THAT CAN BECOME CAVITIES. BELOW THE GUMLINE
YOUR BODY SENSES THAT THERE ARE BACTERIA BELOW YOUR GUMLINE AND SENDS FIGHTING CELLS TO FIGHT THESE BACTERIA. YOUR BODY IS FIGHTING AN ATTACK THAT'S GOOD. BUT THE WASTE PRODUCTS CREATED WHILE FIGHTING THIS FIGHT IS IRRITATING YOUR TISSUES BELOW YOUR GUMLINE. YOUR TISSUES MAY BLEED, BECOME SWOLLEN AND RED. YOU PROBABLY WON'T HAVE ANY PAIN.
IF YOU VISIT YOUR DENTIST, YOU MAY HAVE
BEEN TOLD THAT YOU HAVE GINGIVITIS.
When your gums bleed when you floss and brush most people stop flossing and brushing.
THAT'S the worst thing you can do. Patients can be flossing wrong or sporadic. Patients may be brushing wrong or not daily.
Flossing correctly, you take floss. Finger flossing is the best. You wrap the floss around your pointer finger of each hand. I like GLIDE floss. It is made of teflon and it scrapes the plaque and food particles between your teeth at the gumline. You eat every day and you should be flossing every day. There is no tooth brush that can get between your teeth at the gumline. You floss BEHIND the last tooth in your mouth and go around to the opposite side behind the last tooth, upper and lower. Now you take a soft toothbrush starting at one corner of your mouth, upper or lower. Brush BEHIND the last tooth at the tooth gumline. Placing your toothbrush i/2 above the gumline and 1/2 below the gumline. You brush gently back and forth several times then move forward to the next two-three teeth. Brushing back and forth several times gently then moving to the next teeth. You go all around to the opposite side brush BEHIND the last tooth on that side then move to the tongue or palate gumline. Many patients forget that you have bone and tooth supporting structures at the gumline where your tongue and palate are.
You place your toothbrush on the gumline. I/2 toothbrush above the gumline and 1/2 below the gumline. You brush gently back and forth several times then move your toothbrush forward. You go all around to the opposite side and brush the last tooth. Now you brush the flat surfaces of your teeth. Start on one arch, upper or lower, go around to the opposite side. Then you brush the opposite arch. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. 1/2 teaspoon salt to one 8 oz. glass of warm water. Now you clean your tongue. Using your tooth brush is not a good idea. You can buy a tongue cleaner or you can take a teaspoon turn the teaspoon so the round part faces your palate. Place the teaspoon in the middle of your as far back as you can without
gagging. Gently scrape forward out of your mouth. You will see a slimy whitish material.
THAT IS WHAT WAS HIDING IN THE NOOKS AND CRANNIES OF YOUR TONGUE. RINSE YOUR TEASPOON OFF AND DO THE OTHER TWO SIDES. RINSE YOUR MOUTH WITH WARM SALT WATER THEN GARGLE. IF YOU ONLY HAVE YOUR TEETH PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR AND DON'T FLOSS YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR TEETH, EVENTUALLY. IF YOU DON'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH, YOU WILL HAVE GUM DISEASE.
GUM DISEASE STARTS AND PROGRESSIVELY, SLOWLY DESTROYS YOUR TOOTH SUPPORTING STRUCTURES. AT FIRST YOUR BODY FIGHTS GUM DISEASE

How often should I get a dental cleaning?

For each person, the answer is different. The last time you saw your dentist, were you told that you had any cavities? Were you told that you needed to floss and brush correctly READ MORE
For each person, the answer is different. The last time you saw your dentist, were you told that you had any cavities? Were you told that you needed to floss and brush correctly daily? Plaque forms on OUR teeth every day. Plaque is a SEMI CLEAR STICKY MATERIAL THAT IS LOADED WITH BACTERIA. When we eat, tiny food particles provide food for the bacteria. We can't see what is happening at first. The bacteria
eat, multiply and give off toxic waste(toxins). Plaque crystalizes after 24 to 48 hours. With the
the calcium in your saliva, the crystalized plaque, the rotting food particles, living bacteria, dead bacteria and the fighting cells your body sends to fight the bacteria, living and dead fighting cells forms tartar. Tartar is extremely hard to remove. Dental equipment is needed. You would think that tartar should be protective. Tartar is irritating to gum tissue but should possibly protect tooth structure? WRONG!. Tartar is porous. PLAQUE and bacteria and the family of characters can penetrate the tartar. On tooth structure the acids can decalcify the enamel. I see patients with white decalcifications at the gum line on all back teeth.
If these white spots become cavities it will cost big BUCKS to repair. If you have dental insurance you have a yearly limit and you will max out your insurance. If your dentist is KIND he will give you a special rate to fix these gum line cavities. With medical insurance and treatments such as physical therapy your medical insurance contract is with your insurance company and the facility. When you have maxed out your PHYSICAL THERAPY benefits, your fee to extend treatment runs into hundreds per treatment and if you are in a facility you are PAYING THOUSANDS/ PER WEEK TO REMAIN IN THE FACILITY. YOU CAN appeal but by that time you have been sent home and you have to go back to the facility for 3-4 extra days
This means that the plaque and bacteria penetrates the tartar and gets on your tooth surface. Plaque bacteria, tiny rotting food particles form acids. These acids attack the enamel on your teeth. Those white spots that you see on people who wore braces are decalcifications. These decalcifications are weak areas on your tooth surface. If you leave food and debris around your gum line, your may
have those white spots around your teeth. These areas are weak and become cavities. Gum line cavities should be restored immediately. At the gum line the pulp chamber is the closest to the outer surface of your teeth.
If your gum line cavities penetrate the pulp, you may try to save your tooth or teeth with root canal. NOT ALL ROOT CANALS WORK!
Now it is not only the cavities you have to worry about. You may have bacteria from plaque, tartar and cavities above your gum line. Every time you eat, swallow you are swallowing millions of bacteria. You may have had warnings
bleeding gums, gingivitis, bad taste, mouth odor? Your body bends over backwards to fight to protect you from gum disease. You have a band of tissue called ATTACHED GINGIVA. This
tissue is 2-3mm wide. You may wonder why the food you eat doesn't go down to your roots? This ATTACHED GINGIVA is firmly bound to your tooth cementum that coats the root surface below the gum line. By not removing plaque daily, your body is fighting this plaque attack party. With your gingivitis and inflamed gum tissue, your body's fighting is slowly wearing away your ATTACHMENT. Once your ATTACHMENT is gone, the plaque, tartar bacteria party is now attacking the bone and supporting tissues around your teeth. The bacteria plaque tartar party above your gum line can make you nauseous and upset your stomach. The same party is now attacking your tooth bone supporting structures below your gum line. The bacteria, toxins are not just staying below your gum line. They are entering the larger blood vessels. Bacteria, rotting food, toxic wastes are entering your blood vessels. Your blood vessels are lined with living
cells. When this toxic party enters your blood vessels, toxic wastes are being carried all over your body and organs. Yes it takes a long time but once the toxins are entering your blood vessels your body is now overwhelmed. You may have uncontrolled high blood pressure or high sugar levels. Your family genetics are now getting READY to activate. 30, 40, years from now ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, HEART PROBLEMS, DIABETES, LUNG ISSUES, BLADDER CANCER, ARTHRITIS, BLOOD CANCERS ARE CONNECTED TO GUM DISEASE.
DAILY, NEW BODY SYSTEMS ARE BEING ANNOUNCED. OUR OFFICE HAS SEEN PATIENTS WHO FLOSS AND BRUSH CORRECTLY FOR YEARS. THEIR GUMS ARE HEALTHY, AND WHATEVER HEALTH ISSUES THEY HAVE ARE MINOR.
THOSE PATIENTS WHO DO NOT FLOSS OR BRUSH CORRECTLY, SEE THEIR DENTIST WHEN
SOMETHING HURTS OR THERE IS A COSMETIC
EMERGENCY, HAVE MASSIVE DENTAL WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TWO YEARS AGO.
MANY OF THESE PATIENTS HAVE SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS. IMAGINE NOT HAVING YOUR TEETH CHECKED AND CLEANED FOR FIVE YEARS OR MORE? IF YOU FLOSS AND BRUSH CORRECTLY DAILY YOU CAN WAIT TO HAVE YOUR TEETH CHECKED AND CLEANED.
IF YOU SPEND THE TIME TAKING CARE OF YOUR TEETH, THOSE PATIENTS WANT TO KNOW THE CONDITION OF THEIR TEETH. YOU CAN HAVE CAVITIES OR OTHER PROBLEMS THAT NEED CARE. IF YOU HAVE BEEN CARELESS WITH YOUR HOME CARE NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR DENTAL WORK DONE AND START DOING HOME CARE CORRECTLY.

THE COST OF PROVIDING MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE TO THE PATIENTS WHO HAVE NOT TAKEN CARE OF THEIR TEETH WILL BANKRUPT OUR COUNTRY HUNDREDS OF TIMES OVER.
WE HAVE TO EDUCATE PATIENTS THAT THEY HAVE TO DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO- TO START TAKING CARE OF THEIR TEETH. THE HYGIENE GENIE DOES NOT VISIT OUR HOMES EVERY NIGHT AT 8:00 P.M. YOU-EACH ONE OF US HAS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN TEETH.

Mouth odor can have many many causes. The fact that it happened "rather suddenly" means there may be an infection. If your husband has any crowns or bridge work and the tooth was root canaled, he may not have had any pain. If your husband hasn't been flossing, plaque, rotting food, bacteria, and toxins may have caused cavities to form around the gum line. Your husband needs to see his dentist. If your husband smokes, this can add to his problem. Patients have to floss and brush correctly daily. Our bodies fight the battle of our poor mouth care. Our immune system fights to protect our tooth supporting structures. But this immune system fight produces toxins that wear away our supporting structures. We have a band of tissue that is ATTACHED to each tooth. This keeps the food we eat from going down towards the roots of our teeth. The ATTACHED GINGIVA is strong. Once it is gone, the bone and membrane surrounding the tooth is easily attacked and destroyed. Plaque, rotting food particles, bacteria can't be be removed when this debris goes down next to tooth and hardens. That hard tartar you see above your gum line can also be collecting below your gum line once the ATTACHED GINGIVA is gone. This distruction below your gum line allows bacteria and their toxins to enter your blood vessels and carried through out your blood vessels and organs. It is a slow process. But time marches on and all of a sudden you have receding gums, possibly some loose teeth. You may also have blood pressure that you can't control and have borderline Diabetes II and you can't control your blood sugar levels. Gum disease is controlled with good home care. You need to see your dentist at regular visits. If you have been told you need to do better home care, ask how you should be flossing and brushing. If you are told you have gum disease, get that hardened material below your gum line removed. I hear patients say they don't have the money. Your health CAN'T AFFORD that you not do it. To get rid of gum disease, you have three options:

1. Antibiotics and scaling and root planing.
2. Surgical opening and removal of hardened debris and removal of infected gum tissue and modifications of the bone.
3. LANAP is the latest gum treatment. All gum disease is removed in one treatment. There is no cutting or sewing. LANAP STIMULATES your STEM CELLS. You grow your own alveolar bone, supporting tooth membranes and tooth covering cementum. You are given instructions of how you should be flossing and brushing. This treatment can last 5 years or more.

Any procedure taken care of will last. Have your husband see his dentist and take care of his problem.

I know that EVERYONE believes that they know
what's good for them. And if they want to KNOW
something they can look it up on the internet. But the INTERNET DOES NOT PRACTICE MEDICINE OR DENTISTRY. Unfortunately the internet can't fix your teeth. You the the patient can't fix your own teeth. Even dentists can't fix their own teeth for many PROCEDURES. See your dentist, get what work you need to have completed. Get on a good home care program.

Your front teeth are aligned. As your baby teeth are ready to fall out, or removed, the space for your permanent tooth is ready for it to erupt into.
All dentists have their own methods for doing braces. You have to know if you have a "skeletal mal-occlusion" or a "dental mal-occlusion". If you are a"dental mal-occlusion", you can have braces anytime you want to start. If you are a skeletal mal-occlus, you have to wait until at least age 16 to determine the method of treatment.
