Changing colors in a mole, particularly darkening, is considered a warning sign of possible malignant change within the mole. It would be extremely wise to seek dermatologic consultation, so that the mole can be examined under magnification, with the aid of a surface microscope, known as a dermatoscope, and sent for biopsy to rule out the possibility of the development of malignant melanoma (a very serious form of cancer) should this be deemed necessary. This should be checked out asap.

I absolutely agree with you. So, check out "Scalpel Sculpting" a procedure I have been using for decades to remove moles (beauty marks, birthmarks) without any deep cutting and without the need for any stitches. What this means is that the chance of a scar is minimal and a 0 chance of stretch scars and "railroad track" stitch marks. I have photos to show that even perfectly flat moles on the nose can be removed from the nose with gratifying results.

Common causes of hair loss including male pattern baldness, which can start even at younger ages than this if there is a family trait for early hair loss. Other common causes include stress-induced hair loss (telogen effluvium) and alopecia areata. The bottom line is that you need to be seen by a dermatologist to diagnose and prescribe specific treatments for your particular hair loss. In general, the earlier one intervenes, the better the outcome.

The jury is still out on the value of PRP , and it is expensive (at $800-1000/treatment in Manhattan). I prefer relatively inexpensive, but time-tested proven techniques, such subcision for rolling and boxcar scars; TCA CROSS for ice pick scars. With subcision, a small blood pocket is created under the skin-in this way naturally, providing the growth factors and wound healing factors from the patient's own blood without the added expense of the PRP. Good luck.

There are variety of reasons for facial pigmentary blotchiness. These include postinflammatory hyperpigmentation that follow, such inflammatory processes as acne. Or it can be a fairly common condition known as melasma. An in-office series of superficial peels can be quite helpful for fading these conditions, especially when combined with at-home use of prescription strength topicals, containing medications, such as hydroquinone in higher concentrations, arbutin, kojic acid, glycolic acid, and azelaic acid. Strict sun protection is strongly advised, since all hyperpigmentary problems worsen with sun exposure. Melasma is a chronic and recurring condition by definition, so, with this problem, maximal sun avoidance and protection are the order of the day.

Actinic keratoses are aka solar keratoses because they are caused by excessive sunexposure especially during youth. Light skin, blue-eyed, fair-haired individuals are more prone to their development of actinic keratoses since they have less protection, as a rule, to the sun's ultraviolet rays than do persons with skin of color. It is important to treat them, or at very least to be closely followed by a dermatologist, since some may evolve into a certain type of skin cancer, known as squamous cell carcinoma of the skin.

How long acne breakouts continue is written into a person's genetic software. We do know that it is not uncommon for acne to persist into the individual's thirties, forties and in some cases even into the early fifties. So, since the field of genetics is in its relative infancy, we cannot say in any individual how long it will last. However, if bad acne breakouts in older genetic relatives persisted into the twenties or thirties, there is a reasonable chance that this will be the case for your son. What we can say is that, especially for severe cases, the early the intervention the better the chance to prevent permanent acne scarring.

Cystic acne should be treated early and aggressively with the help of a dermatologist to prevent permanent scarring. In general a combined at hoem and in-office treatment regimen is necessary to control nodulocystic acne. Strong prescription topical medications, sometimes oral antibiotics and the in-office use of intralesional anti-inflammatory injections are needed to control this condition and prevent or minimize scarring. The earlier the treatment is initiated, the better. It is far easier to prevent acne scars than to treat them later on.

I have been injecting Botox for aesthetic reasons since 1991. Although Botox typically lasts for three to six months, what we have found since those early days is that if an individual undergoes a treatment cycle of between four and six Botox treatments (on the same anatomic site) at four month intervals, the results of treatment thereafter may last far longer. Following the initial treatment series, I have personally had patients whose results lasted a year or longer between treatments (I include myself in this). We believe that the reason for this is that repeated treatments actually shrink the muscle and there is likely an element of the Botox retraining the muscle not to overreact as it it did prior to treatments. However, if one prefers not to undergo this initial series of treatments at the fixed four month intervals, the Botox effect can be anticipated to last between three to six months, on average.

Unfortunately, vitiligo is a difficult condition to treat. However, in cases where the loss of pigment is not too extensive, the use of certain prescription topicals may be helpful to promote repigmentation. Skin tags are little growths of excess skin that stick out on slender stalks. There is often a family trait tendency for their development. They can occur anywhere, but most often appear on fold areas, such as around the eyes, the neck, the under the breast, armpits and groin. They are easy to remove pretty painlessly under local anesthesia. I would suggest that your friend have his growths checked out by a dermatologist, since skin tags on the back would be quite unusual.
